• Keys To Pregnancy Success

Our reproductive systems are not made up of isolated organs and individual hormones. Each element of the system works together so conditions will be right for pregnancy to occur. When the health of the body is restored, a man’s body should produce healthy sperm. A women’s reproductive system should do what it is meant to do, conceive and carry a healthy baby to term. The main aspects of achieving a successful pregnancy are:

    Conception

    Healthy man and woman

This requires adequate and functioning sperm as well as a functioning ovaries and a uterus. TCM aims to help the health of the ovaries and sperm.

Early Pregnancy & Prevention of Miscarriage

    Importance of Early Stages

For a TCM fertility specialist, ensuring the pregnancy is established in the early stages is as important as the positive pregnancy test (preventing miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy).

    Healthy Eggs & Sperm

    Pre-conceptional Care

In TCM they say the most important gift we can give to our future children is their constitution. Pre-conceptional care is important to ensure your children inherits good health. Of interest is the 3 to 4 month development stage of the egg and sperm. Siobhán has a keen interest in helping a couple have a baby of good constitution.

    Traditional Chinese Medicine

Build up Egg and Sperm of Good Quality

TCM can be very helpful in helping couples prepare for Assisted Reproduction Technology (ART). For couples who “need” fertility treatments such as IVF/ICSI, TCM can be used to build up egg and sperm of good quality (to help ensure a healthy blastocyst), to optimise good health, build up a healthy endometrium, balance hormones and reduce stress.

  • Individualised Treatment

The aim of Siobhán’s treatment is individualised. Each person is prescribed herbs/acupuncture and a specific diet plan according to their individual needs. As a Registered Midwife, Siobhán absolutely recognises and recommends people to have certain diagnostic tests such as: Hormone Levels, Semen analysis, Ultrasounds, Laparoscopy, HSG (to check the potency of Fallopian tubes). Siobhán’s recognises how these test results correspond to TCM diagnosis and treats the person accordingly.

"Were trying for nearly 12 years and after 3 failed IVFs we were told our only hope was a donor egg. I got pregnant after the second treatment with Siobhán and gave birth to a beautiful baby boy the following summer."

  • Traditional Chinese Medicine View of FSH and AMH

Siobhán has used Traditional Chinese Medicine to help women achieve improvements in both AMH and FSH levels.

    AMH & FSH Levels

Herbs and Acupuncture to raise AMH Levels and lower FSH

AMH is produced directly by the ovarian follicles. AMH tests can be done on any day of a women’s cycle. AMH does not measure ovarian egg reserve but measures antral follicle count. Women with lower AMH have lower antral follicular counts and producer a lower number of oocytes. This can change, and improvement can be made with herbs and acupuncture to raise the AMH level. Siobhan has treated many women with low AMH levels with great success. Some womens’ AMH levels have risen considerably while on herbal treatment, some have even risen more than tenfold. Siobhan has many copies of test results showing AMH rising, for reference.

FSH stimulates the ovaries to grow and mature the follicles that will release the eggs. Normal FSH levels should be below 12 min/ml. FSH is produced by the anterior pituitary gland and functioning to stimulate the ovaries. FSH stimulates the production of ovarian follicles and oestradiol. If the ovary responds poorly to FSH and the level of oestradiol does not rise sufficiently, the pituitary gland recognises this and secretes more FSH to further stimulate the ovary. Siobhán has helped many women lower their FSH with herbs, acupuncture and specific diet. Read more.

A woman’s eggs do not have an expiration date. They respond to their surroundings just as the rest of our body systems do. Ovaries and eggs respond negatively to poor diet, drugs, toxins and stress hormones but they also respond positively to healthy diet and a pure lifestyle.

  • There is nothing in western medicine to lower FSH levels and improve egg quality. Traditional Chinese Medicine can prove successful in lowering FSH and helping women to conceive even with very low AMH levels (see testimonials). The aim of treatment in reducing FSH levels is to improve the functioning and responsiveness of the ovaries. Chinese Medicine works by increasing blood supply to the developing follicles and by increasing the nutritional supply to eggs via fluids that surround and nourish it.
