I am 33 years old and my husband and I had been trying to conceive since 2006.After 6 months of trying I went to see my doctor who referred me to a consultant who put me on Clomid for 3 months and after 6 months I returned and I had a laparoscopy done which mild endometriosis was found I was told that it would not have stopped me getting pregnant and not to worry. I was young and had lots of time!!!!
So after another 6 months had passed and no joy I had been told about a clinic in Galway which we decided to give it a try. We ended up attending this clinic from January’08 up until September ‘10 in which throughout that time I had been taken Naltrexone, Ovitrelle, Cyclogest, steroids and Puregon for most of the two years. My husband had a sperm analysis done and the doctors of the clinic had told us it was fine. I had blood tests done each month and my hormone levels were fine. In February ‘10 I had another laparoscopy done which found very small amount of endometriosis and a small cyst on one of my tubes. In August of last year my husband and I decided to stop this treatment and to do IVF so I got an appointment for October, in the meantime a friend had told me about Siobhan Kehoe, Acpuncturist and Herbalist in Enniscorthy. We decided to give a try this route while we waited for October’s appointment.
I was feeling tired and I decided to stop the meds I had been on. At our first appointment with Siobhan advised me to start taking raw herbs to sort my cycle out and to avoid certain foods. On Siobhan’s advice my husband and I decided to give the herbs time to work and to put our appointment with the IVF clinic off until February to get my body to the best health for the IVF. Almost instantly I noticed an improvement in my cycle I had less dark spotting before my period. My period was a brighter red, more clear cervical mucous, less pmt and each month there was more of an improvement in my menstrual cycle.
When we attended the fertility clinic and had blood test done I had a AMH level of 1.3 and my husband’s semen analysis showed poor mobility. We were told that the chances of IVF working was low (given 5% of a success rate) and to consider egg donation. This really shocked us so we decided to go ahead with IVF. We were put on ICSI Flare Protocal, I had continued taken the Herbs, Royal Jelly and Spirulina right up to the end of my period before treatment. My husband had been taken Herbs, Royal Jelly, Zinc and Spirulina. With this we had 7 eggs retrieved, 5 were fertilized and 3 survived to implantation stage and were grade A quality and thankfully I got pregnant. I had a healthy pregnancy and now have a healthy baby boy 9 months old and thriving. I firmly believe that the raw herbs and Siobhan’s honest and sound advice helped ICSI be a success .
